CARRIE KAUFMAN’s Inspiration Point:
I have come to realize the impact of attitude on life. I am learning to embrace each and every day focusing on the positive and recognizing the many small blessings in my life that are sometimes easy to overlook. Attitude has become my mantra and it inspired me to create a piece of art around that theme.
I’m always looking for interesting color combinations and textures in the world around me. The warm, earthy colors found in nature during fall provided inspiration for the color palette in “Attitude”. I collect fascinating, sometimes unlikely things to incorporate into my art. These small found objects often ignite a spark that sets my creativity afire – as they did in this piece. Look closely and you’ll see a tiny metal frog basking on a lily pad created from pieces of a long-ago cast off necklace. He floats along a stream made of strands of hand dyed ribbon. Other embellishments include a tiny discarded fused glass earring (that lost its mate) echoing colors found elsewhere in the composition. Keep looking all you’ll identify other quirky recycled bits and pieces.
My goal is with this piece is to make you smile. Enjoy!
